Edmonton Cake Smash Photographer

If you’re on the hunt for an Edmonton Cake Smash Photographer, there are a couple things to consider.

First, what kind of background are you looking for?

A lot of cake smash photographers can have pretty elaborate set ups that are very colorful and busy. I personally, take a modern, minimalist approach. I find that keeping the props and the background clean and neutral, sets the focus on your one-year-old!

Second, is family included?

I encourage family to join in all of my sessions at no extra cost. Your little one turning one is a big milestone to celebrate for everyone! I love capturing the connection you share and you get to enjoy the cake with them!

Third, is the cake supplied?

I like to make your session as stress free as possible, therefore I provide the cake from Cake Affair, a local bakery in Spruce Grove. With them, the options are endless! I love a classic naked cake, like in the photos below, or if you prefer the messy icing face, that’s fun too!

Lastly, are outfits included?

To save you some shopping, I provide all of the outfits for your little one as well as dresses for mom and include 2 outfits.

Tips for a smooth session

Try and have your child as well rested as possible.  I know it can be hard to always make sure our little ones have perfect sleep. However, making sure they have had a good night sleep and applicable naps the day of the session will make a big difference on their demeaner during the session.

Ensure they have full bellies.  Full bellies make happy kids. It’s a good idea to give them a snack prior to the session as well as bring some non-messy back up snacks and water for during the session.

Bring something they love.  You could bring along something they love to keep them content. We can even incorporate it into one of their individual pictures as well.

Make it fun! If you have other kids joining that don’t enjoy getting their pictures taken, plan something fun to do as a family after pictures. You could grab ice cream or a treat they love. This way, kids know if they smile and behave for just a little bit, fun will be coming. I always try my best to make kids feel like they are the stars of the show and try to add humor to the session to make it a little less boring for them!
